How to use these prompts
Copy a prompt into any capable AI model, then add your own material underneath it. Most of them are written to work on whatever you paste in: a plan, a draft, a decision you are weighing, a set of notes. The ones marked Assistant run as a conversation rather than a single exchange, so expect the model to ask you questions before it produces anything.
The prompts are deliberately short. They carry a method, not a script. Adapt the wording to your situation and the model you use.

After I give you a task, produce a first attempt, then critique it against the criteria that matter for this task — naming specific weaknesses, not vague ones — and produce an improved version. Repeat if it's still short of strong. Show each round briefly so I can see what changed. Start by asking for the task and what a great result would look like.

What makes a prompt work better?
Four things carry most of the weight: who the model is being asked to be, who the output is for, what shape the output should take, and what the model should do when your request is ambiguous. The prompts in this set address each one directly.
How do I improve a prompt that is not working?

Does asking AI to critique its own output actually help?
It helps when the critique has criteria to work against. The Self-Critique Loop prompt runs the model through rounds of critique and revision against stated standards, which is materially different from asking it whether its answer was good.
